Matteo accommodated us at short notice. We hadn’t been before and we were very surprised at what we found. Matteo is a magician. It cannot be humanly possible for this one man show to produce such an array of amazing food in such a small.... And I mean really really small kitchen. Matteo is also entirely charming and entertaining. That Matteo produces these amazing meals from scratch on site.... It’s a positively superhuman feat. My partner and my three children were all blown away and we are excited for our next visit. We will book in advance next time.
Our second time at Matteo’s, we actually traveled from Manchester just to eat here again last night. Everything is made fresh, he’s a one man band with heaps of passion and enthusiasm for his food and customers. He makes time to chat and entertain you! Even though he literally does it all, serves, cooks and cleans. With it being such a friendly, intimate environment. we got talking to another three of the tables last night and Matteo joined us for a drink at the end of the evening. We all laughed and shared stories, it certainly leaves you feeling a sense of “home”. The food is always delicious, piping hot and fresh. Matteo what a diamond you are!
Brilliant restaurant. Matteo works very hard on his own creating delicious meals! Second time we have visited. Came to Settle in February and had a great visit, delicious food and have been back again tonight as we are back in Settle for the weekend. Food was delicious again, staff very attentive and Matteo very chatty and pleasant. Please be mindful when reading negative reviews. We were present when the most recent 1* review was given. We were enjoying a lovely meal and a group of 5 came in asking for a table and they were told sorry the kitchen was closed around 9pm. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
We went here last night, all the reviews are absolutely spot on. The place is wonderful it's like a little cave full of sparkles and history. The food truly is exceptional, every morsel is made from scratch. No microwave food here. The chef is a legend so humble but cares so much about making your eating experience amazing. Loved every second, will be back
Honestly ignore the negative reviews!! I booked this place then looked at some negative reviews and (being a food snob) I nearly cancelled our booking. I’m so glad we didn’t listen to any of this as our food was incredible. Gorgeous wine, great menu choice and food tasted exceptional. Family of four all of us very happy and the restaurant is really cute and quirky. Will definitely be returning mateo is lovely too and had chat with us and made us feel really welcome
Beautiful inside - very rustic interior and busy too. Speedy service and authentic food from the Italian chef, fantastic wine just like being in Italy. Could’ve done with a tiny bit more seasoning that’s all. Would return
If we could give 6 stars, we would. Simply superb. Amazing atmosphere in a quite unique basement setting. Delicious, authentic Italian food all prepared by Matteo in a tiny kitchen. The kitchen maybe small but the food is superb. There's also a fun, friendly and interactive customer service that will leave you smiling. Matteo has been in business here for 10 years, unlike other restaurants that come and go, and you can see why. Highly recommended!
The meal was exceptional; the lasagne was the best I have ever tasted, incredibly flavorful. My friend's also only had great reviews of their dishes. Matteo provided friendly and attentive service, ensuring we had a table and a delicious meal after completing The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge! I'd highly recommend this restaurant, thanks again Matteo.
